Cobra Dash Cam Review – CDR 900
The Cobra CDR 900 (released in mid-2014) is amongst one of the most popular dash cams that are available in the market today. One of the reasons for its popularity is the fact that this dashboard camera can record videos at 1296p (super HD) resolution and thus the resulting video quality is stunning – be it day or night (see video samples).
Furthermore, the CDR 900 is also capable of transmitting live and recorded video to your iOS or any android device using the Cobra Drive HD App via WIFI connection. Yes! Its WIFI enabled.
The Cobra Drive HD app enables you to remotely command your CDR 900 to start or stop recording. Also you can remotely control settings of your CDR 900 using the app (which has a very easy to use menu) and hence you don’t need to have a separate remote control.
Another very interesting feature that comes with the Cobra CDR 900 dash cam is the Cloud Mode. Using the cloud mode you can view the live feed (real time footage) from your CDR 900 directly on to your smart phone anywhere in the world. Hmm! Now that’s really interesting.
Features of Cobra CDR 900:

Some other features of CDR 900 are:
Loop Recording: The CDR 900 has the facility to record continuously in loops. This means that as soon as the memory card gets full, the dash cam automatically starts to overwrite the oldest footage that it has recorded. However, it will skip the footage areas that it has marked for safe keeping (like sudden braking or collision as detected by G Sensor).
G Sensor: The CDR 900 features a G Sensor that will mark a portion of video footage for “safe keeping” in unfortunate event like an accident or sudden braking etc.
Infrared LED Head Lights: The infrared LED head lights feature of CDR 900 enables it to capture awesome night time video.
Display Screen: The CDR 900 has a 2” display screen so that you can view any recorded footage then and there itself. However, a mini HDMI port is also provided in the camera should you wish to see recorded footage on your HD TV or computer.
Viewing Angle: Another very interesting feature of CDR 900 is the 160° ultra wide viewing angle. This viewing angle covers the entire road and records anything and everything that comes towards your car. Not to mention without any distortion at edges of video (like many other Wide Dynamic Range dashboard cameras).
Date and Timestamp in Video: The CDR 900 embeds the date and timestamp in the video that it records. You need to set the time only once while installing the camera. It is very important for you to set date and time properly in your dashboard camera as it may be used as a proof if you ever happen to be involved in any accident.
Easy Installation: The CDR 900 comes with an 8 GB MicroSD card and hence we can safely say that the unit is alive and kicking out of the box. The maximum card supported is 32 GB.
We request you to view the video in full screen and choose the maximum resolution; this will give you a better understanding of video quality captured by the dashboard camera.
