HP F310 Car Camcorder – Our Review

The HP F310 car camcorder (released by HP in mid-2014) is the successor of HP F210 dashboard camera. It’s a good dash cam, but suffers from hereditary defects of F210 which we discuss below.

Look wise the HP F310 is similar to F210; while its unusual square shape reduces the stealth, the internal GPS increases the size. Furthermore, the square shape form factor of this dash cam may not be suited to everybody’s taste.

Shaking video quality, pretty much the same way as to F210, is another inherited defect in F310. The rigid suction cup mount is the culprit once again. Unfortunately, there’s no solution to this issue as per now.

The video quality of HP F-310 is good during day time and average during low light conditions (See Sample Videos). Everything’s recorded at 1080p (Full HD) resolution, still the recorded video doesn’t seems comparable to likes of Mini 0803 or the Cobra CDR 840.

When it comes to features, the HP F310 has all the usual and standard features like loop recording, G-sensor, date and time in video, auto on/off etc. It also features an internal GPS that works really awesome.

The viewing angle of 130° is good and the dash cam supports maximum of 32GB memory card. The 2.4” display screen is awesome, similar to F210, and works seamlessly. Furthermore, using menu and managing the camera is also very easy.

Users report that it’s difficult to change the speed display from KMPH to MPH (same as that of F210). As a possible workaround, you can reset the dash cam by pressing the power button for 10 seconds and choose the speed option.

HP F310 Car Camcorder – Video Samples

We request you to view the video in full screen and choose the maximum resolution; this will give you a better understanding of video quality captured by the dashboard camera.

Day Time Video Sample:

As we’ve mentioned earlier, the day time video quality is good. There are lot of details that F-310 captures during day time and the video is pretty clear. However, video shaking is evident.

Night Time Video Sample:

The night time video quality of HP F310 is average, license plates can be read easily only for less distant vehicles.

We believe that Mini 0803 or Cobra CDR 840 record better night time video than F310.

HP F310 Car Camcorder – Our Verdict

While HP F310 is a big brand car camcorder and records good day time and average night time videos; we think that you must get better value for your money. Hence we’d suggest Abeo HDVR-150 or Mini 0803 dash cam.

Priced at $200 (Amazon US, at the time of writing) F310 is still a bit expensive for what is delivers.
